What I can tell you is that I made it in late afternoon on a November day near our house in Steamboat. The sunlight caught the bare tree branches and highlighted them against the darker hills in the background. The blues you’re seeing are the tree-covered hills, which really were a dark steel-blue. And then I added some texture, as I do to many of my photos.
